Bimeda USA Announces the Launch of Macrosyn® 25 (Tulathromycin Injection), FDA-approved Bioequivalent to Draxxin® 25

Schaumburg, Illinois – Bimeda US is pleased to announce the launch of Macrosyn® 25 (tulathromycin injection) – an FDA-approved bioequivalent to Draxxin® 25 (tulathromycin injection) made by Zoetis.

Macrosyn 25 utilizes the same active ingredient as Macrosyn (tulathromycin), in a lower concentration which provides easier, more confident administration to treat and control Swine Respiratory Disease (SRD) in small pigs and treat Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) in suckling calves, dairy calves and veal calves.

Dr. Chris Olsen, Swine Technical Service Veterinarian at Bimeda, welcomes Macrosyn 25 to the company's swine portfolio. "Formulated at 25 mg/mL, Macrosyn 25 provides a larger, more practical dose volume for lighter-weight animals," said Olsen. "Each dose is easier to deliver accurately and less affected by small losses during injection. Producers are constantly looking for effective, dependable tools to manage herd health, and Macrosyn 25 gives them another reliable option."

Macrosyn 25 treats the five major bacterial SRD-causing pathogens — Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Haemophilus parasuis and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae — and helps control SRD in groups where SRD has been diagnosed and is associated with A. pleuropneumoniae, P. multocida and M. hyopneumoniae. In suckling calves, dairy calves and veal calves it is indicated for the treatment of BRD associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni, and Mycoplasma bovis.

Macrosyn 25 is available in 100 mL and 250 mL vials and may be purchased through your veterinarian or animal health retailer with a veterinarian's prescription.
